HINT: You DO Need a Permit!

As a Saskatchewan photographer, I have the privilege of working in some of the most breathtaking locations our province has to offer. From rolling prairies to serene lakeshores, there's no shortage of stunning backdrops for capturing life's most precious moments. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing Kyle and Kaylyn's engagement session in one of Saskatchewan's provincial parks, and it was truly a memorable experience.

Before diving into the details of their session, there's something important I want to address: park etiquette. Whether you're visiting for leisure or for a photoshoot, it's crucial to remember that Saskatchewan's provincial parks require a park pass for entry. No exceptions. So, before embarking on your adventure, be sure to grab your pass and display it proudly on your windshield.

Additionally, if you're planning to work in the park as a photographer, it's essential to obtain a permit from the park's office beforehand. This ensures that you're adhering to park regulations and supporting the preservation efforts that keep these natural spaces beautiful for generations to come. Trust me, it's worth the extra step to ensure a seamless and respectful experience for everyone involved.

Freezing a Little!

Now, back to Kyle and Kaylyn's engagement session. We chose one of Saskatchewan's picturesque provincial parks (Echo Valley) as the backdrop for their photoshoot, and it couldn't have been more perfect.

As we wandered through the park, I couldn't help but marvel at the natural beauty that surrounded us. It has been a while since I’ve explored Saskatchewan in the winter and my-oh-my was it dreamy! Kyle and Kaylyn were troopers and didn’t complain about the cold once. Though I may have froze them a bit before the toques came out!

The golden hour light bathed everything in a warm, ethereal glow, casting shadows and creating a magical atmosphere. Kyle and Kaylyn were radiant as they laughed, danced, and stole quiet moments together amidst the stunning scenery.

Throughout the session, I made sure to respect the park's rules and regulations, ensuring that our presence didn't disturb the delicate ecosystem around us.

With each click of my camera shutter, I felt privileged to document this chapter in Kyle and Kaylyn's love story against the backdrop of Saskatchewan's wilderness.

What to Bring

Planning for an outdoor engagement session can be both exciting and daunting… the weather is tricky no matter what season! With a little preparation, you can ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience. Here are a few essentials to bring along to make the most of your time outdoors:

  1. Tote Bag: A sturdy tote bag is perfect for carrying all your essentials and gives a place for your phone and car keys to go. Consider packing a few accessories like a different jacket or scarf that can add variety to your photoshoot. For winter sessions, don't forget to include mitts and toques to keep warm between shots.

  2. Water or Hot Drink: Staying hydrated is key, especially if we’ll be spending extended periods outdoors. Bring along a water bottle to keep you refreshed throughout the session. If you're shooting in colder weather, a thermos of hot tea or cocoa can be a comforting treat — you won’t regret it!

  3. Walking Shoes: While you may have chosen the perfect pair of shoes for your photoshoot, it's always a good idea to bring along a pair of comfortable walking shoes as well. This way, you can navigate uneven terrain or rocky paths without worrying about your footwear.

By packing these essentials, you'll be well-prepared for your outdoor engagement session, allowing you to focus on creating beautiful memories against the backdrop of nature's beauty.
